Helsinki
Helsinki is cold, you know...

I can't stand the cold. I feel I would turn to ice and shatter if left out in the cold for too long.

I would NOT go to Helsinki in the winter. No, no, no.

Well, maybe if I had tickets to...

The Leningrad Cowboys!

Once, a long time ago, I rented "Leningrad Cowboys Go America" from Blockbuster (see! Blockbuster is good for something!) and thought the film was one of the greatest I'd ever seen.

That started a brief period of buying LC CDs and having my Finnish pen pals send me live LC tapes and going all the way to Hollywood to watch LC films and even dressing up as an LC for Halloween, 1993, etc., etc....

Those were good times.

But I'm hungry (peep peep)
and I want to eat...

My favorite Finnish food is the Karelian pasty. The filling consists of white rice and chopped hard-boiled eggs, and the crust is of rye flour. I tried them at a Finnish festival in Thousand Oaks. I also tried making them myself, but those didn't come out very well.

I know if I followed the instructions correctly, remember what they look like, and find a good oven to use, I could make Karelian pasties that are just as good as the ones in this picture. Triple cheeseburgers have nothing on this! (My little brother once said that Finn Crisp tasted like dog food.)
